Technical partnerships
Within the Impact component, the section dedicated to Technical Partnerships represents a key pillar in highlighting the company’s active role in external projects, where collaboration translates into concrete expertise without direct involvement as a formal partner.
This section includes initiatives in which OutBe, WildSteps and Outdoor Portofino provide advanced technical expertise, innovative tools and tailor-made solutions to support third-party entities in achieving their goals.
Unlike active or completed projects, the emphasis here is on adaptability and the provision of targeted services, ranging from strategic consulting to the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, always maintaining a focus on sustainability and efficiency.
We provided local logistical support from our Monterosso nautical base to the project ROC POP Life (N° LIFE16 NAT / EN / 000816), working to promote biodiversity enhancement by restoring Cystoseira populations.
EU ECO-TANDEM is a European project that promotes collaboration between tourism SMEs and startups to develop innovative and sustainable solutions in the tourism sector.
OutBe participated as a winner in the program, collaborating with startup TRIARK to implement a pilot project dedicated to post-COVID-19 recovery, integrating environmental and social sustainability practices into outdoor tourism experiences.
Report Pinna nobilis
The European project created to save the fan mussel, Pinna nobilis, the largest bivalve mollusk in the Mediterranean Sea, a species that lives exclusively in our seas and plays a valuable role in coastal ecosystems, threatened with extinction after an epidemic decimated its populations beginning in 2016. OutBe worked as a sub-contractor on the creation and communication of a citizen science format to monitor live and dead specimens in the Mediterranean
Our unique local expertise has given us the opportunity to take part in projects aimed at protecting marine species. As part of the project RELIFE (LIFE15 NAT / EN / 000771) to reintroduce the endangered limpet Patella ferruginea into the Ligurian MPAs, we helped transplant and monitor the implanted samples and conduct kayaking and coasteering surveys to map the resident limpet population in the area.
In addition, we have carried out activities of public engagement by taking tourists on guided kayak tours to visit limpet populations and learn about their ecological importance.
In coordination with the International School of Genoa, whose very young students are the final recipients, OutBe designed an environmental education project to take place for the duration of 1 year between the school facilities and the surrounding natural environment.
With ‘Fresh Minds for Water Stewardship‘ (FMWS) the two joint entities aim to disseminate the current state of the art of aquatic citizen science so that young students can learn about it, understand it, and ultimately apply it during and after the project ends, ensuring the information useful for future independent use.
The main issues addressed with the students are the overall quality of the water environment, the quality of its biodiversity, and last but not least the fight against pollution from micro and macro waste.
