scientific work, such as data collection, carried out by ordinary people without specific qualifications to support the work of scientists.
The large number of outdoor enthusiasts worldwide is proving essential for collecting data across large spatial and temporal scales. Especially in times of climate change and financial constraints, the implementation of targeted citizen science protocols has a significant impact.
Protecting the ocean means understanding it.
The vastness of the ocean makes it impossible for scientists to monitor it completely, and it is estimated that around one sixth of marine species in the Mediterranean alone lack complete data.
People who experience the Ocean every day
can become the many eyes and hands that science needs.
